Pennsylvania man wins $1 million on Las Vegas slot machine

An unnamed slot player at the Cosmopolitan on Super Bowl Sunday went back to his favorite machine with $2 before settling in to watch the game. Early in the day, he had cashed out for $500.
    This time, he did better.
The Pennsylvania man hit a progressive jackpot worth $1,085,391 on a $1 Wheel of Fortune slot machine, according to the property. The jackpot came at 12:52 p.m.

Nevada sports books break record for Super Bowl handle

Tom Brady wasn’t the only one breaking records Sunday night. Nevada sports books broke the Super Bowl handle record with $138.5 million in wagers, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The handle topped the previous record (last year’s Super Bowl between Denver and Carolina) by nearly $6 million.

The books cashed in with a $10.9 million profit, or 7.9 percent of the total money wagered on the game. That number was down from last year when the books won more than 10 percent.

Board: Pennsylvania casino served player 27 drink in 9 hours

MOUNT POCONO, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has fined a casino $25,000 for serving a gambler 27 drinks in a nine-hour period.

Mount Airy Casino Resort says it won't comment on the fine. The gambling board says the fine was levied as part of a consent agreement, meaning the casino isn't contesting the penalty.

The board says the customer was playing table-top slot machines at a casino bar when he was served. The board found the customer was showing signs of intoxication after nine drinks, meaning the bartenders served him 18 drinks after he was obviously drunk.

Nevada gaming revenue down 2.73 percent in December

Nevada gaming revenue for December was down 2.73 percent compared to the same month in 2015, with Clark County casinos seeing a drop of 4.34 percent, state regulators reported.

Statewide, nonrestricted casinos — those with table games and 15 or more slot machines — showed a gaming win of $956.1 million in December, a 2.73 percent decrease compared to December 2015, when the win was $983 million, according to statistics released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Gaming revenue in Clark County declined 4.34 percent for the month, with the Strip showing a 1.67 percent drop and the biggest declines on the Boulder Strip, where revenue was down 26.9 percent, and North Las Vegas, where it dropped 23.27 percent.
